Operations Manager, Merredin, WA (REF 152884)

This position is suited to an individual who is wanting to consolidate their farming experience and secure a senior management role within a professional large broadacre enterprise.

  • Up to $125,000 per annum
    - Typical 40 hour week (Mon-Fri, 8-5pm)
    - Hours increasing during busy periods (you will be required to work additional hours during these periods)

General Requirements of the Position:

  • Provide people and operational leadership with a focus on overseeing all day to day responsibilities of the enterprise and its performance against the operational objectives
  • Implement cropping program in a timely manner including seeding, spraying, spreading, hay and harvest
  • Operate machinery as required (Harvesters, Boomspray, Tractors, Hay Balers, Mowers)
  • Carry out general farm maintenance as required including fencing and building repairs
  • Maintain a variety of record keeping across rainfall, paddock, plant and machinery
  • Undertake post seeding and harvest reviews
  • Understand and co-ordinate Occupational Health & Safety activities
  • Work in strong collaboration with the Farm Owner to ensure the overall high performance and smooth running of the farm
  • Act as the 2IC of the enterprise during farm owner’s absence and undertake relevant higher duties as required

Technical Skills and Experience Required:

  • Qualifications in Agriculture or Business Management would be highly regarded, but not essential
  • Broad knowledge of broadacre cropping operations
  • Experience with a similar role with leadership responsibilities
  • Minimum 5 years' experience operating sprayers, tractors and harvesters
  • Experience operating hay baler and telehandlers
  • Sound mechanical skills
  • John Deere Greenstar GPS knowledge and experience with programming and uploading data to Apex, JD Operations etc
